COVID-19 RELIEF PACKAGE IN THE HANDS OF HOPE PERFORMANCE TENNIS VOLUNTEERS

A total of 70 volunteers made up of management, Foundation and Club coaches, photographers and officiating officials have received relief package from the Hope Performance Tennis Inc as part of measures put in place by the foundation to respond to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This intervention follows a decision taken by management on how the foundation can contribute to making the volunteers resilient and respond to the economic challenges imposed by the Pandemic. There has been unprecedented solidarity throughout the world as a way to address the impact of the virus, the Hope Performance Tennis Inc, wishes to use this opportunity to communicate to its stakeholders that it is learning and mobilizing support in responding to the pandemic. There is no denying the fact that the COVID-19 Pandemic came with other crisis such as economic and social crisis, the government imposed restrictions intended to curb the spread of the virus has brought about economic hardships to many people around the world forcing unprecedented solidarity engagement to reach out to people who are affected by the pandemic. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Management of the Hope Performance Tennis Inc on the 3rd of May 2020 approved a relief package comprising of rice, gari, cooking oil and sardine for the seventy (70) volunteers it has been working with as a community response to ease the economic burden occasioned by the pandemic. CEDRIC DZELU REIGNS SUPREME AT ACCRA SENIOR OPEN

The much anticipated 17th edition of the Accra Senior Open was once again hosted on its traditional soil, the clay courts of the Accra Tennis Club in Osu from the 28th of November to 7th of December 2019 which featured about 150 players in 15 different categories. At the end of the tournament, it was Cedric Dzelu from the AMTEC tennis club who was crown the new champion of Semi-Professional Singles category. The campaign to the final nearly became a dream for Cedric with a low start when Jonathan Quaye, the defending champion dismantle him at the group stages but Cedric will quickly regroup to make it pass Ahevi Dodzi with a 6-0, 6-0 silencer and a walkover from Joshua Yamoah to guarantee a place in the quarter-finals where he was drawn to meet Jonathan Quaye again, haven done his homework, Cedric pulled what appeared to be a dominating win on Quaye 7-5, 6-3 and ousting Patrick Tenkorang in the Semifinals with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 to book a place at the finals.    ...

ALBERT ARTHUR MAKING GHANA PROUD AT THE ITF HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHES PROGRAM IN ZIMBABWE

Ghanaian rising tennis coach Albert Arthur is making promising debut in Zimbabwe at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) invitational coaches training program which started from the 25th of November and ending on the 7th of December 2019. Coming from the once prestigious Winneba Tennis centre to featuring for the national team at the junior and senior level, young Albert Arthur transitioned into coaching and now holds a level 2 ITF coaching certification that enables him to coach high-performance players. He is currently coaching at the ITF/CAT East Africa Training Center in Nairobi, Kenya with impressive records. GTF FIRST BATCH OF STAKEHOLDER MEETING HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL

The newly elected Executives of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) under the leadership of Mr. Isaac Aboagye Duah true to their words on Friday 1 st November 2019 held its first batch of a series of stakeholder meeting intended to feed into a four year strategic plan of the governing body. Close to 40 participants made up of Board members, representatives of players, coaches, officiating officials, wheelchair tennis and foundations attended the meeting which was undoubtedly a huge success. The forum afforded the stakeholder bodies the opportunity to review the performance of the old board and to proffer ideas and solutions to address the challenges of tennis in the country. Wheelchair Tennis Gaining National Momentum in Ghana

The Ghana Wheelchair Tennis as part of the 2019 ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Fund Project in collaboration with the Ghana Tennis Federation launched Wheelchair Tennis Program at the Central Region of Ghana.
