Wheelchair Tennis Gaining National Momentum in Ghana



The Ghana Wheelchair Tennis as part of the 2019 ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Fund Project in collaboration with the Ghana Tennis Federation launched Wheelchair Tennis Program at the Central Region of Ghana. The launch makes it the 8th in the series of the ground breaking project of the Ghana Wheel Chair Tennis after Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Brong Ahafo, Northern Region, Volta and Western Region.

A record 50 persons with Physical Disability participated in the 2 day wheelchair Tennis Beginners Training Clinic where the players were taken through high performance drills and techniques by the Technical Director of Ghana Wheel Chair Tennis, Yahya McCauley who was highly impressed about the level of interest and potential of the players.

Coach McCauley in his remarks after the program signaled that the Central Region has a lot of potential and that he is willing to commit his time and expertise towards developing the game in the Region to produce Professional Wheelchair Tennis Players.
