The
much anticipated program on the Ghanaian tennis calendar, the Hope Performance Tennis
Clinic and Club Tournament took place in the first week of September at the
Accra Sports Stadium tennis courts from Wednesday the 4th of to the
7th of September 2019 from 8am to 4pm each day with over 600 kids from
5 regions of Ghana participating in the life changing tennis program that seeks
to empower young people through the game of tennis.
ABOUT HOPE PERFORMANCE TENNIS INC.
Hope performance Tennis
Inc. as a foundation is committed to empowering young people in Ghana using the
game of tennis as a tool for development in a manner that provide for the
youth, a platform on which they would be able to combine both the game of
tennis and academic excellence for their own development.
NATURE OF THE PROGRAM
The
four days event had two components, it started with a two days clinic led by
very seasoned and high level coaches aimed at addressing the skill and the
technicalities of the game to ensure that kids take off from the right approach
to the game, the second component is the tournament part which took the format
of a Davis Cup where the kids competed among themselves with the objective of
putting into a competitive practice what they learnt from the tennis clinic.
SPONSORS
The
foundation received enormous support from organizations such as the Atlanta
Athletic Club, Wilson, PTR, Head, DeKalb Tennis center, Agape Tennis Academy,
Drills Hills Country Club, South fourth Tennis Center, Concourse Athletic Club,

program a huge success, we are equally indebted to the Ghana Tennis Federation
under the leadership of Isaac Aboagye Duah for the overwhelming support and
endorsement of this program.
MENTORS AND NATIONAL HEROES AT THE
PROGRAM
It
has become the tradition of the 4 day event to profile national heroes and
leaders to interact with the kids and to inspire them to greater heights, once
again the kids were privileged to be joined by Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings,
the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency who emphasized on the
need for the kids to embrace discipline as their number one virtue in their pursuit.
The
entire tennis stadium came alive on Wednesday when Asamoah Gyan the leading
striker and captain of the Ghana Black Stars visited the kids and entertain
them to a tennis match against Enock and later inspired them to take every
little opportunity that comes their way and to give their best at all
times.

GROUND BREAKING ADDITIONS
The
success of the 2nd Edition is enormously linked to great additions
to our program features, we had participation of kids from 5 different Regions
(Northern, Upper West, Eastern, Brong Ahafo and the Greater Accra Regions) as
compared to the 1st edition where participants came from only the
Greater Accra Region. Participation also increased from 480 in the last edition
to 624 participants with a big rise in the number of girls to 236 from 127 in
the last edition. We were also excited to be honored by the presence of Asamoah
Gyan the leading striker and captain of the Ghana National team who is
undoubtedly a national icon and a model for the kids, we believed that his
interaction with the kids will go a long way to nudge them to greater heights.
